Fall 2025 Planting Design & Installation in Oronoque Village, Stratford CT

This planting design and installation project in Oronoque Village, Stratford CT brought together multiple landscaping services to completely transform a customer’s outdoor space into a beautiful, functional, and low-maintenance retreat.

Step 1: Weed Control & Bed Preparation

We began by applying a weed control spray to reduce unwanted growth before performing a full hand-weeding. After 1-2 weeks, our team returned to remove all visible weeds by hand — a simple change that made a remarkable difference in curb appeal and plant health.

Step 2: River Rock Installation for Drainage & Function

The homeowner was struggling with rainwater pooling near her circular stone patio and an overgrowth of weeds that made the area unusable. We resolved this by installing steel edging, landscape fabric, and river rock for a cleaner, more functional surface that controls weeds, improves drainage, and enhances visual appeal. The result? A refreshed space that’s both practical and inviting — perfect for grilling and outdoor relaxation.

Step 3: Lawn Renovation

Behind the back deck, poor soil and weeds had taken over. We performed a partial lawn renovation that included weed control, dethatching, aeration, topdressing, and slice seeding, & hay. These steps will establish healthy new grass growth this fall and create a lush, full lawn by next season.

Step 4: Complete Planting Design

The existing landscape beds had become overgrown and unmanageable. Our landscape designer, Monica, created a new planting design featuring smaller, more site-appropriate plants chosen for their soil adaptability, light tolerance, and mature size. Each plant was chosen for its complementary color, texture, and seasonal interest — providing year-round beauty and balance. After hand-removing old vegetation, we installed premium topsoil, starter fertilizer, decorative river rock stone, and fresh dark brown mulch for a professional, finished look.
