Landscape Design & Installation Plus Irrigation & Overseeding in Stratford, CT

Preparing the Site for Planting

Every successful landscape begins with proper preparation. Our crew started by shaping new bed lines and creating defined planting areas, ensuring the layout complemented the home’s structure and natural flow. Existing turf was carefully removed, and fresh soil and fertilizer were brought in to enrich the planting beds.

Next, we removed all unwanted plants to give the property a clean slate. However, the homeowner wanted to keep their beloved Japanese Maple, so our team successfully transplanted it to a new location—an intricate process requiring care and precision to preserve the tree’s health and root system.

A Collaborative & Creative Design Process

As with every Shannon project, the design process was a true collaboration between the client and our landscape designer. Through several design meetings and revisions, we refined the layout and plant selections to ensure both beauty and long-term sustainability. The final design featured a whimsical, colorful landscape that offers multi-season interest and outstanding curb appeal. Each plant was selected to thrive in local Connecticut soil and climate conditions, while providing structure, texture, and color from spring through fall..

The plant palette included:

  • ‘Green Velvet’ Boxwood (Buxus)
  • ‘Magnus’ Coneflower (Echinacea purpurea)
  • ‘Ruby Spice’ Summersweet (Clethra alnifolia)
  • ‘Spilled Wine’ Weigela (Weigela florida)
  • ‘Goldsturm’ Black-Eyed Susan (Rudbeckia fulgida)
  • ‘Straight & Narrow’ Holly (Ilex crenata)
  • ‘Hollywood’ Juniper (Juniperus chinensis)
  • ‘Lavender Twist’ Weeping Redbud (Cercis canadensis)
  • ‘Little Hottie’ Hydrangea Tree (Hydrangea paniculata)
  • ‘Schipkaensis’ Skip Laurel (Prunus laurocerasus).

Installation, Irrigation & Overseeding

Once the design was finalized, our installation team got to work. Every plant was positioned with care for optimal spacing, sunlight, and long-term growth. We also installed an irrigation system to ensure consistent watering and healthy establishment for all new plantings.

Because the project required large equipment and extensive soil work, we finished with a touch-up overseeding to rejuvenate the surrounding lawn and blend everything together seamlessly. This final step helps restore turf health and creates a clean, unified finish across the property..

A Thrilled Homeowner & Lasting Partnership

The homeowner was thrilled with the transformation and expressed full confidence in our team’s professionalism and attention to detail. Like many of our loyal clients, they continue to work with us for ongoing landscape maintenance, plant care, and future upgrades.

At Shannon Lawn & Landscaping, we believe in more than one-time installations—we build relationships that keep your landscape beautiful and thriving year after year..
